June 3rd #Trust30 prompt:
Post-it Question by Jenny BlakeThat which each can do best, none but his Maker can teach him. Where is the master who could have taught Shakespeare? Where is the master who could have instructed Franklin, or Washington, or Bacon, or Newton? . . . Shakespeare will never be made by the study of Shakespeare. Do that which is assigned you, and you cannot hope too much or dare too much. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Identify one of your biggest challenges at the moment (ie I don’t feel passionate about my work) and turn it into a question (ie How can I do work I’m passionate about?) Write it on a post-it and put it up on your bathroom mirror or the back of your front door. After 48-hours, journal what answers came up for you and be sure to evaluate them.
Bonus: tweet or blog a photo of your post-it.
After a retreat with the young adult group from our church a few weekends ago I came to the realization that fear holds me back from doing more with the time given to me. I often sleep in when I could be up reading, praying, thinking, running or playing the guitar. On the surface I feel tired and sleepy. Underneath I'm really afraid of what the day will bring and afraid to leave the warmth and relative safety of my bed.
So I've been thinking a lot about how I can use my time more purposefully which leads me to this post-it, now above my computer and soon to be on my bathroom mirror:
What's your biggest challenge right now? What can you do about it?
Ryan
